More and more people are interested in starting an online business these days. Part of this boom is related to the current economy as more people are downsized, made redundant or their companies go bankrupt but online business is also attracting large numbers of people who just no longer want to work for someone else. People today are starting to realize that there really is no such thing as job security any more and they’re tired of worrying about the future.
One of the advantages of online business is that there are so many options. There are a great variety of business models to choose from and you can easily add multiple streams of income while you build a lasting business. The key to discovering which model would be best suited to you is to evaluate what types of things you are interested in and enjoy doing. After all, what’s the point of starting your own business if you can’t enjoy the process? Figure out what you like to do and I guarantee there’s a way to start an online business within that field.
Another advantage for many people is the low cost of starting most online businesses. Sure, you can spend thousands to set up a complete e-commerce site and try to compete with the big dogs but the beauty of it is that you don’t have to take this route. Many people have started highly successful online businesses by working part-time around their offline jobs from their kitchen tables. By working steadily on their businesses, they are able to supplement their incomes and eventually replace/exceed their offline incomes.
Offline businesses are limited by location while online business owners can operate on a global basis with customers from anywhere in the world. With a completely digital business, this global reach does not add one dime to the company’s operating costs. Of course, an online business that deals with physical products would be different but it would still entail lower costs than a comparable offline business.
When considering starting an online business, there are many business models to choose from. You can offer a service if you have skills to offer such as freelance writing or web design. Both of these service areas are in high demand with this burgeoning market. A service business model can be started with no upfront capital if needed but it is more professional to at least have a website set up. You can do this with as little as $7 to register a domain name and $5 a month for hosting costs. What business can you begin offline for such a paltry amount of capital?
Other online business models that you should investigate include affiliate marketing, advertising revenue, blogging, information marketing and website building. The most successful online businesses combine several of these models to create lasting streams of income with diversification. By diversifying your income methods, you never have to worry about having your income disappear due to new technology or trends. If you’re tired of the rat race or worrying about job security, you should investigate the possibilities presented by starting your own online business.

I opened up my printer and fixed it/hacked it to do my bidding! HP has some ink that has a chip inside to tell your printer it can’t print without some new ink. So you get to either spend 120.00 for new ink or do this. Here is the work around for the date issue but it doesn’t always work. n the printer ini file (c:/windows/hpbj1100.ini) I made one change…. the following line DeviceIoControl error:=997 changed to DeviceIoControl error:=0000 —————————————- There is NO BATTERY in the HP1100 so the remove the battery will not fix the problem. You can backdate your computer and turn off the printer and then unplug it then start it up and it should work for you for a while. Supposedly ———————————– HP should be sued for this as it’s extortion and I never would have bought the stupid thing had I been told of this ( I was not ) the ink cartridge itself doesn’t even mention this it just as an expiration date. I will likely NEVER buy another HP product. I had a good size ink leak that may have caused a short on my board that senses the ink levels. So I was having more than just Ink Expired problems but this hack will fix that too. I only print B&W and only print once or twice a week. Not a heavy user. so HP! YOU SUCK!

This is an interesting question, but I will speak from personal experience. I started my coaching practice using the name Courageous Living. Then, after just a few months, I started realizing that no one cares about your business name unless you are a BIG business. I stayed away from using my name at first, because it is long and easily misspelled. Most online marketers use their name, and here's why. People buy from people, when you are a solo-preneur you want people to connect with you, get them to know, like and trust you and you'll quickly develop an audience and a following.
I find being authentic in your business is the best way to go. Do what you feel in your heart is the right thing for you. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. You are going to have critics no matter what you do, so if your family googles you – let your light shine. You have every right to be out there marketing yourself. Critics will only arise because they don't have the courage to do what you are doing.

They have pre-designed templates to use and plenty of videos on how to build your website. They make it very easy…it is a bit time consuming, but you get to have your website look the way YOU want it to look. You can make it look professional. I have an online business selling pet items ( http://www.petdreams.dk ) and I am not a big fan of drop shipping, because of what you mentioned: what type of service will they provide to your customers.
Customer service from business to retail is complex because many times the customer won't complain to you – they simply won't purchase from you again. So, in these cases, you will never know that the service offered to your customer was not satisfactory.
Instead I prefer to have a few units of each piece in stock and be very organized and order items before I am out of stock on them.
Besides, many drop shipping businesses offer a higher price than if you purchase items.
My husband is a member of an Internet marketing community called Wealthy Affiliate. It is like a school for internet marketers.
There are a lot of people in it that know what they are doing and everybody is trying to help each other. You can learn so much there. The forums, the support, the coaching, all the information they provide you with. This is a question I struggled with a lot of my life. What is the smartest thing to do with my money?
Some background – I went to college and got a degree in finance. I've been a financial planner, a banker, I've prepared taxes, sold insurance, and most recently was an investment banker. I did all these jobs so that I could learn what is the smartest thing to do with my money. And my answer?
Start your own business. I recently started my own e commerce business, PawPosse.com, to put in practice what I have believed for years. Business ownership is the best path to wealth in this country.
Look at it this way – good rate of return year over year is 12%. That's really good. It is extremely hard to get that kind of return consistently every year in the market. But let's suppose you do. If you invest $100,000, that means every month you get a 1% rate of return, or $1000. (Again in the real world it never happens this way, but let's say it did. You be considered smarter than Warren Buffett.)
Now let's say you start an online business of some kind. I spent less than five thousand to get mine up and running. But there are ways to start online businesses for much less. In my first month I achieved a much bigger return than 1% on my money.
So what would you prefer – Giving someone else's business your money to use to grow (that's all investing really is), or using your money to grow your own business. And here's the best part – so much of what you need to learn about starting a business online is free. We spent a total of $500 on books and courses to learn how to do it.
Now before you run out and start something – a word of caution. There's a lot of scams out there. It is real work doing an online business. Be careful. Don't give your money away for empty promises of four hour work weeks. You'll get there someday, if you are lucky, but certainly not right away. And don't start anything until you've got a good business plan in place for marketing your business. Can't write one yourself? Then you're not ready to be in business. One thing that helped me immensely was working at a bank. You can talk to tons of business owners every day at a bank. Listen to how they got started. Ask them, "What's the secret to your success?" They like that. They'll tell you. The successful ones figured out something that people wanted or needed but was hard to find, and found a way to deliver it to them. It's not rocket science. Find a mentor who has a successful business. But until you KNOW what you want to do with your money, just keep it someplace safe. You'll be fine.

Tie it back to the fact that the mindset of an entrepreneur would not allow you to give up so easily. Also, just a side note, try to take out some of the instances of the word "business" in the beginning. It's a little overwhelming.
