Tell the Dept of Real Estate what name you have chosen. They will hold that name for you for 6 months as you get set up. Pay $900 a month to rent a space. You can buy desks from the Bankruptcy Court for a low price (businesses are always closing and their furniture is sold). Sign up at the Orange County Association. They will get you entered in the MLS. Then open your doors.
To protect your name, pay $10 at the Secretary of State's Office..

Have you been to the Real Estate offices that are in your area? Call the offices and see if you can go in during a meeting and talk about the advantages of using your Mortgage Company. Oh and take food, food works everytime. Try to put your business card on a grab and go item at the offices front desk, something like suckers or packs of gum.

I think a business brokerage is tied to a brokerage account, so you can have the money in a money market, stocks, etc.

You can get checks, debit cards and process online payments with a brokerage account. But check first what your bank offers for it's brokerage accounts.

I would assume a brokerage account is better since interest received on a checking account is basically nothing. You'll have better interest in a money market. But if you plan on not having a lot of money in there, a regular checking account may be best. There may be account minimums that you have to maintain with the brokerage account.

Forgot to answer about online payments. You can tie any account to accept online payments, but you need to be setup with a gateway and pay for credit card processing. If you have a website and are taking credit cards at the site, it would be a good idea to go through a third party site that can handle all the encryption and security end of processing online credit cards vs. processing the card at your site on your own. This can happen all behind the scenes so it appears to the customer that you processed the transaction, but the security (encrypted information) is all handled at another site.

I am not an expert on this kind of thing, but it is out there. I am using paypal for my own website since it is a trusted name and I don't have to store any credit card info at my site, that is all handled by paypal.
