Help answer the question about electronics gadgets
a home made electronics question; How do I make a gadget that allows for tonal recognition?In the pursuit of intellectual curiosity I have been exploring how to make a number of gadgets. I want my next gadget to do this: Recognize one or multiple specific tones and connect different circuits depending upon the tone heard.
Does anybody know a good site to find easy guides? Or perhaps some suggestions of a common object that I can take and modify to make it do what I want?

He sounds like he is a boy of high energy and needs more physical exertion. If it is possible, perhaps you could take him to a park early in the morning where he can run and climb, jump, throw a ball or frisbee, etc. Are there any sports you could enroll him in? If he is able to work off all this extra energy, he might be calmer and more careful. In fact, his inattention to keeping track of his belongings sounds just like a child who is very high strung.
When he breaks or loses items, perhaps give him extra chores to do in order to earn replacement items. For example, if he loses his lunch box and you need to buy a new one, he could wash the windows or sweep and mop the floor.
For what it's worth, I think a lot of children break their toys and household items quite frequently. Lord knows mine have and it is quite frustrating as it can be difficult to have the money to replace them. I believe many things are not made as well as they once were and spending the extra money on very sturdy items (such as furniture) is an investment in the long run, saving money and frustration.
Using praise and punishments consistently should work. Being consistent is key. Punishments should also be appropriate. If he damages something that belongs to someone else, he should be made to apologize and perhaps not be allowed to watch television or play video games for at least a day or two. Maybe you should start requiring him to do chores and give him an allowance. Besides birthdays or holidays, the only toys he is allowed to get would be with his own money. This might teach him to be appreciative of the value of things. If this doesn't work, and he truly seems to show no concern for his own actions, maybe he should be taken to a behavioral specialist.
