Hardware is an aspect of your computer that doesn’t require the need to be changed that often, unlike software. So if your hardware shouldn’t need to be changed that often you want to make sure that when you purchase it you are buying a piece of hardware that will last.

A lot of people overlook the need and responsibility of PC hardware and instead concentrate primarily on software. Without the correct hardware your PC will fail to function correctly.

The term hardware can be fixed to many aspects of your computer, with the main aspect being your motherboard. The motherboard is classed as the heart of your computer; its main purpose is to provide electrical and logical connections. Without a motherboard your computer will not be able to function. Components such as external storage, controllers for video display and sound are attached to the motherboard via edge connectors and cables.

The central processing unit (CPU) is also found on the motherboard and acts as another important piece of computer hardware. The CPU performs most of the calculations which enables a computer to function. The CPU and the motherboard are found within the tower of your computer as is the computer fan, needed to keep your computer at a safe temperature and your power supply, which is obviously needed to ensure your computer has power to function. Along with all of these you will also find your computers sound card and graphics card within your computer tower. Your graphics card, also known as a video display controller, is important to your computer as it is what enables you to get a good resolution and without one you would not be able to watch videos, play games or even clearly see flash images on websites.

One last hardware feature of importance that is kept within your computer tower is the computers hard drive. The hard drive is the storage area of your computer system. All your programmes and applications as well as images, music, video and all forms of media that is on your computer are stored within your computers hard drive.

All of the previously mentioned hardware is stored in the tower of your computer but there are aspects of computer hardware that are visible on your computer such as removable media in the form of a CD drive, DVD drive, floppy disc and USB ports.

When it comes to buying these pieces of computer hardware most people head straight to the biggest brand store and pay over expensive prices for hardware that you could have got a lot cheaper from another avenue. If you are looking to buy computer hardware there are a number of options open to you rather than just buying new. For example there are computer fairs that are held, which sell all forms of computer hardware at very reasonable prices; if you know what you are looking for you will be able to find a great deal at a computer fair. However if you would prefer buying from a retailer have you considered buying used hardware? Please don’t be put off by the term used what is meant by this is you would be buying new hardware that has been returned by customers and restored by the retailer. Dell is a prime example of a store that frequently sells hardware that has been returned and has been repaired to new standards.

All of the equipment is new and only has minor issues such as a slight dent. Retailers such as Dell sell restored equipment within their store and also do so over the Internet on sites such as eBay. All of this equipment comes at a discounted price with around 10-40% being taken off the original price depending on the level of interest. So next time you require to purchase computer equipment, shop around instead of just settling for a high price.

Help answer the question about computer hardware

What computer hardware needs to have drivers updated?
Hi everyone. I am currently planning on building a new computer. I am wondering what hardware I need to get driver updates for (first time building a computer). I know you need to update the motherboard and the graphics card. What else? Thanks everyone.

I have Phoenix First Ware Recover Pro.
It cost me $40 for a 1 year subscription, and it has more than paid for itself.
It provides automatic daily restore points, and you can create your own restore points as well.
If you get a virus, lose files, whatever, you just open the program and restore your computer to the desired time and date.
The only con about this program is that you will lose any work created after the chosen restore point, so I recommend setting a restore point after generating every important file or download.

*DRIVERS*

Go to the your pc manufacturer's website and download AUDIO Drivers.
If not found there, go to the your motherboard manufacturer's website.

Download the Drivers and Install
Reboot your PC

well im 16 im currently in a local summer class about pc and stuff :> yay! me
now were all about reformatting

It’s now how it works, it doesn’t just double everytime..

Learning about PC is freaking cool! 100 times better than the f*cking school :D If we get interested about something, we learn it fast!

im new to computer’s, it’s so complicated.

Well we have two options: what might be quicker is after it boots up save all the data that you need to. Then reload the windows OS and start all over installing programs from a fresh start. The other option is to try to figure out whats going on… your symptoms don't ring any bells for me right away so we'd have to answer some questions. For the first problem, after you install all the hardware does it show up as installed in the device manger? I would assume that you don't have any software like norton's goback or MS's steady state installed so that you can't make changes right? also I'm assuming that you're running windows xp sp2 or later, is that right? and with the other part of the problem is your IE up to date? is it an option to dl FF on another machine and move it over with a usb drive, is that something that might work for you? In some computers the BIOS will let you run a hard drive integrity test, if not you can dl one and run it to make sure that the hd is ok, or you can atleast run a checkdisk. Well that's enough questions as a place to start… as i said fixing what's going on might be very time consuming, so think about the backup/reinstall. gl

Maybe you have to reinstall the drivers..

awsome man..cant wait to see the rest of the lessons!!
thank you

Hey tamethebea Win 7 is just like vista. It is vista but better faster and looks a little bit different not much but little.. You mean 8 gb to install?

it requires 16 GB on 32 bit computers and 20 GB on 64 bit computers.

Thank you

There are three things that I can think of that you can do. 1) make sure the keyboard and mouse are connected right. 2) try using a different keyboard and mouse in your computer. 3) Email me at nickdellorto@aol.com so I can tell you more information on how I can fix your computer.

1st u have any idea whats hardware is go to Google and type what the f.ck is that
2ed it's called software.
3rd it's gonna be slow no matter whats u do.
4th only one way to fix it click on the start menu>all program>accessories>system tools>system restore>restore my computer en earlier time> go back on calender as back as u can hit the latest date that u have bought in or the number is dark(bold) and hit next and u should be restore(it takes 10 15 min depend your computer). see if this works or not i had a laptop from 2003 and i never use it but after while i got and dumb ass idea and i did this but it makes a little faster and then i got an bad ass idea i install whole new operating system for that u have to have CD of operating system just got to you tube and type how to get free XP and u will see what the fuck happen it's awesome u u will love it and they i install new system and works fine to me or just go to the Google and type how to adjust for best performance. or go to the link in the source. trust me installing new damn operating system is works i am using my laptop every where

Nice Vid,
Thanks Man!

thank you petarr

4gb will do just fine ;) ddr3 is recomended…

My suggestion would be to backup current critical files that you need and Reformat your computer.
It sounds like a Serious virus or Hardware failure.
If you go with the fresh install and your still having problems its definitely hardware.Disable devices bit by bit in device manager to check what might be stopping it.
Hope I could Help.
Good luck.
p.s- Try borrowing a copy of a virus program off a friend/relative and try a full system scan before reformatting!

Somehow your audio drivers probably got uninstalled. Before you do anything, make sure it's all plugged in right and that the sound isn't muted (I know it's silly, but it happens a lot).

Now go to start > control panel > device manager

Look for "sound and audio devices" —> double click this. Is there a yellow question mark next to the device when you double click it? If so, post back and tell me your operating system and what kind of audio device it says you have and I'll post back.
