I like it, I think it is good. I am being completely honest.
It's great that you are sure about your life's path. The issues you are facing are just difficult steps along that path.
I would tend to think along the lines of the previous answerer, Aloha Guy. While I do advocate learning from experience, some jobs have too steep a learning curve to manage on your own. If you take on a job at an agency, you have the benefit of their experience and financial standings. In other words, you can learn and still get paid. Depending on the agency you work for, you may NOT need to put in overtime. However, if you do need to, would there be any possibility of your husband taking care of your baby?
Every mother has doubts and fears about sending their children to daycare. This just shows that you are a responsible, loving mother. In my opinion, there are a couple of ways to work around your problem, but they may not necessarily suit your needs 100% if you MUST go with your original plans :
- Work full-time with an agency for a pre-determined time-frame (maybe one year) and learn as quickly as you can. There would be no choice but to send your baby to a daycare during this time. You must be clear about your long term goals so don't worry too much about the daycare situation for now. A year will pass by very quickly and you might just find that being free of the heavy responsibilities of child-care will work wonders for you as you work hard at your job.
- Try to find an agency that will allow you to work from home, flexi hours or at least is family-friendly (meaning your bosses understand the needs of working moms). I have to be honest though and say that this is not as easy as it sounds. Most companies have ONE thing in mind – their bottom line – and expect all their employees to work to the same goal.
- If your husband is earning enough to sustain your family, then you COULD go it alone, and start your own agency at home anyway. If you do this, then you will probably need to scale down your expectations and yes, you must expect that the going will be tough and scary. You WILL find that you have to learn a lot of stuff they hard way.
Phew… now that I've gotten all of the "responsible" stuff out of the way, I can put on my "entrepreneur" hat and share with you a possible solution where you can have your cake and eat it too… although it may be a smaller piece of cake and not your favorite flavor…
Here goes :
As you go about your daily routine, get to know people. Talk to moms who are looking for ways to earn money at home, college students who are free to work part time, retired folks who want a part time job etc. Build a directory of information – names, contact, age, basic education, skills, talents, availability. Can you see where I'm heading?
As you continue to build your network of acquaintances, you will often meet Mr A who's retired and looking for handyman work. Then you'll meet Mrs C who needs to find a reliable person to unclog her toilet. Now, the trick is to ask Mr A if he would be willing to sort of be a "DIY" contractor and accept jobs that you happen to know of. You make money by either taking a commision from Mr. A for every job that you refer to him or you could bill you client directly and pay Mr.A his fee. The second option might be a better way. It's a win-win situation for everybody – the MrA's don't have to worry about sourcing for part time work, the MrsC's know they can come to you will any request and you will know someone who's just right for the job and finally, YOU get your own small-scale employement agency that you can run from home while taking care of your baby.
As you build up your network and gain experience, you might even find that you want to specialize in a specific niche for example finding tutors, babysitters, daycare, elderly caregivers, house cleaners etc.
Mind you, it may take time for you to build your network so this plan is only good if you're willing to work at it long term. I personally know of 3 friends who do it so well that they still keep their day jobs and do their "middleman" thing on the side. They make a tidy sum every month that can be considered MORE than a supplementary income to their salary!
The great thing is that as your network grows, you don't have to confine yourself to just jobs. You can be the source for ANYTHING, from finding vegetable suppliers to wholesale printer inks to computer chips! The money is in your network.
So consider it… all the best!

If those are the only two options, I would start in at the agency first, get some experience, and then move on to working from home.

3. I'm not entirely sure about that, sorry. Their description does sound compatible in ways, but they might get a bit annoyed at each other at times. You could put that into the story, like, how they overcome it and deal with each other, etc etc.
