All the parts or components that join together to make a computer functional are known as Computer Hardware. These components include PC Case, motherboard, power supply, hard disk drive, compact disk drive, digital video disk drive, keyboard, mouse, audio, cables and wires. All these components when added together make the computer run. To buy these parts is a tough job. If you are buying for our own computer then you need to have thorough knowledge about the hardware components. Knowledge about computer peripherals or hardware is important to get the genuine parts. Otherwise one should go for standard companies to purchase the components. One can buy these parts from either a local retailer or a large retailer which has a variety of parts from various companies. If you do not have any idea about the components than you can search the net and look for best companies for hardware products or you can ask the retailer which are the best sold companies. Either way you can be assured that you will get genuine parts for the price you are paying. Large or big retailers are good for buying computer hardware products as these give you a genuine warranty and do take back the component if found faulty. These also give you good after sales services which you will not get in small retailer shop. The third possible way of purchasing these components is from online shopping stores. When one buys a hardware component from these stores, one can be rest assured that the company and the product he/she is buying is a genuine one. These online stores also give you a genuine guarantee of the product you are buying making them more reliable than the roadside shops. One of the leading online stores is HomeShop 18 which offers genuine products at reasonable prices. If you buy from here, you do not have to rush to the hardware market as well you save some money in the form of discounts offered by it. Also, you save fuel which you would have burned or the fare of the taxi while traveling from your home to the market. So, in a way online shopping stores do a lot for you and then why not try them once if not tried yet…

Help answer the question about computer hardware

How can I invent and realize computer hardware?
I have a very specific idea for a piece of computer hardware that I believe would be very useful. I do not have a prototype, nor do I even know how I would create such a prototype. I would be willing to join a company who manufactures this sort of hardware and work to realize its development. I would also be willing to exchange the rights to the idea for either employment, money, shares or licensing. I do not have a patent (in part because I do not have a prototype) and I have performed a cursory search to see if this concept has been created.

I would buy the power supply first, simply because they do not become outdated nearly as quickly as other computer parts. As long as you buy one by a reliable brand like Corsair or Thermaltake you won't have to replace it for a long time.

Next, I would go for the RAM; unless you plan on doing some serious overclocking, you won't notice much of a difference between different brands of RAM as long as they are all DDR2.

Third, I would get the processor. They usually release new ones about every 2 years, but a good CPU can last you for 3-4 years depending on your needs.

The graphics card I would buy last because it is usually the hardware component that becomes obsolete the fastest, especially if you are interested in gaming. You should definitely buy the best graphics card you can afford so you will not have to replace it as soon.

Hope this helps!

The Geek Squad mainly uses Winternals which was recently purchased by Microsoft. http://www.winternals.com/

If you do use this product please make sure that you are using a licensed product. GeekSquad/BestBuy just settled a federal lawsuit based on copyright infringement

If it was a HDD problem as one of the people who answered this question has stated, you wouldn't hear your hard drive move, (the little clicks that your computer makes when you load a program) or you would hear it but it would sound harsh like it was stuck. Also you could smack the bottom of the computer (if its a laptop) or smack the case where the hard drive is (not to hard, silly) and if your hard drive had just started to fail, it would un stick itself and you would get a few more minutes of use before it started to stick again.

That being said you more than likely have a problem with a process that using every bit of your CPU. A process is just a program that is running, it may be a system critical program, it may not. I have had problems with windows update getting stuck while trying to update Microsoft office. (I ended up having to remove and reinstall Office for it to work right again.)

You can test this theory right clicking on the taskbar (the bar on the bottom of the screen, you know the one with the start button, silly) and selecting task manager. On that screen select the processes tab and look through the list for a process that is using 99 percent of the CPU. If there is one, then that is the culprit.

Now the hard part is finding out what the program the process is running, whether or not it is a critical process and why it is malfunctioning. Google the name of the process for some insight into this.If it is an SVCHOST process then it is probably windows update. This is just a guess. I would have to have more information to say for sure, but that is my best guess.

Hope this helps.

PS. I just reread your question, and I see that you DID say you hit the bottom and it starts to work again. So it may well be a Hard Drive problem. You need to back up the important files on your Hard drive to a network or a CD or DVD before it fails permanantly. Then buy a new one and befriend a computer geek at school or work (they are everywhere, just look for the pocket protector =) ) and have them replace it for you. You are going to need your laptops software disks to reinstall your factory software (windows, office ect) and then get your files back off of the network or CD/DVD you put them on.

I think the answer's been courteously moved to" the best computer for speech recognition" and it's notably shorter, just taken down to the essentials.

I'm not sure which is more frightening: that people wouldn't read the above due to it's apparently relevant length, the apparently vanishing attention span amongst supposed "good-doers", or the kind of anonymous collective verbal hazing felt so relevant by the respondents.

To the question's poser: I understand that on MS Office XP voice-recognition was already a function and just seemed to work as part as MS, fairly seamlessly. There may even be a way to get speech recognition on regular XP–in fact, search Yahoo Answers about the best kind of speech recognition and and I believe several answers pop up as to where to find it on XP.

Given that, I'd imagine it's quite easy to find and use such software in the latest OS, Vista…probably even easier! As for the type of computer which might be most amenable to the speed needed for voice typing, hopefully a kindly person *will* come along with a recommendation or two. Video cards, processor (number and speed), likely will be most crucial. Beyond that, let's all hope someone intelligent, experienced and kind comes on the scene to educate us all : )

Weirdest of all, through all the complaining—I don't recall the poster specifying the length of the response, so, really, is there any cause for trouble?

Just trying to be a friendly neighbor in the e-community… : )

Learning about PC is freaking cool! 100 times better than the f*cking school :D If we get interested about something, we learn it fast!

well im 16 im currently in a local summer class about pc and stuff :> yay! me
now were all about reformatting

Nice Vid,
Thanks Man!

Hey tamethebea Win 7 is just like vista. It is vista but better faster and looks a little bit different not much but little.. You mean 8 gb to install?

it requires 16 GB on 32 bit computers and 20 GB on 64 bit computers.

Thank you

I would get the name of the general manager, and write him/her a letter explaining your unhappiness with their service. It has been my experience that managers appreciate this kind of feedback as it reflects on their store's performance (i.e., their bonus). It might even get you some money off your next purchase…

You are almost retired and from the description of it the softwares you specified are not really very tough or demanding software that will require a lot of resources. It is best that you go for an all in one optimised PC with more focus on the business frontier. Your hesitation to assemble a pc is very positive, and all the reason to stay hesitant. Assembled computers may be cheaper to make but do not come with complete warranty nor will you recieve support directly from the company, they will also be exposed to more errors than normal pc's and plus PC's from manufacturers will give you a ton of free software.

what i suggest: A HP pavillion-the market leader in pc's
what you need: 2gb ram, at least a 2.5ghz processor and around 250gb of hard disk space.

you can search for the p6000 range and see what suits you best. I ve reccommended pc's to loads of people and never gone wrong.

this pc will keep you forever and you probably will never need to upgrade anything.

thank you petarr

im new to computer’s, it’s so complicated.

It’s now how it works, it doesn’t just double everytime..

4gb will do just fine ;) ddr3 is recomended…

awsome man..cant wait to see the rest of the lessons!!
thank you
